An idyllic coast and countryside setting with walks from your doorstep, this property has been lovingly fitted and furnished in a modern contemporary style making it a perfect romantic bolthole.

Set above the lovely fishing port of Newlyn, the cottage overlooks unspoilt countryside but is just minutes from the bustling town centre and long seafront towards Penzance. You will find everything you need, including pubs, cafes, bars, restaurants, galleries, and local shops, which are all nearby. Penzance is the largest town in the area with plenty of choices for shopping days or to take a dip in the 1930’s Lido. It is the perfect base for exploring the wider area including Mousehole, with its gift shops, galleries, restaurants and tidal beach. Visit the unique, cliff-top open-air theatre, The Minack, Porthcurno, Lands End and Sennen Cove, or take a day out to St Ive's and catch the train from St Erth.

Nestling in a complex of properties, with its own private entrance from the terrace, you will step into the light and welcoming open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner with views across rolling countryside. With a stylish interior throughout, the beautiful hand-built kitchen is equipped with a combination microwave/oven, portable induction hob and fridge, perfect for cooking up fresh fish bought from Newlyn market or whipping up a romantic meal whilst listening to the Bluetooth speaker playing your favourite songs. There is a dining table with seating for you to enjoy your lazy breakfast. The lounge area offers a comfortable sofa, so cosy up and read your favourite book. Double doors open to the spacious bedroom with super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request). With vaulted ceilings and a wood burner, this really is a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring the local surroundings. Cosy up on one of the two armchairs and watch your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. The stunning en-suite shower room has a WC and shower with rainfall shower attachment, ideal for a relaxing soak after a long, scenic walk. Heading outside, there is a decked terrace with a table and chairs so you can dine alfresco.

The enclosed garden is perfect for relaxing on the sun loungers in the sunshine. It is fully enclosed, so ideal for dogs. There are several borders with shrubs and rolling countryside views. Head to the beautiful, shared garden area with granite standing stones, fire pit, seating and a shared wooden hot tub (1 exclusive use included). Bikes, bodyboards and wet suits are available for use, and should you need to use a washing machine this can be arranged with the owner. There is private off-road parking for one car.

Comfortable stay in clean and well organised property, a little small but ok for a couple. Personally, as I have a heart condition, the location presented an issue - the walk UP to the Retreat from Newlyn is just too much. 40 minutes and eight or so stops to get back. There are taxis but it's 10 each time

Artists Retreat is a rare gem , close enough to everything you might need but far enough away to soak up that town meets country location. With great views and sunsets, access to a rolling landscape plus good walks you really are spoilt for choice. The nearby fields are very dog friendly and our year old pup was totally at home throughout our stay.Read more Highly recommended. Hide

Eastbourne is a bustling seaside resort on the south coast of England. It has been a popular British holiday destination since Victorian times. The town’s attractive pier and promenade is still a major draw for visitors in search of a traditional seaside experience – you can enjoy a long, level stroll along the sea front whilst enjoying an ice cream or some fish and chips. The pebble beach is a good place to park a deckchair and take in the sun, or paddle in the sea. Great for family breaks and as a romantic getaway, the town has much to offer all visitors. The South Downs Way starts in town and extends 100 miles eastwards to Winchester – one of the first stops on the National Trail are the imposing chalk cliffs of the iconic Beachy Head, a few miles to the east of town. Eastbourne is a big hit with train enthusiasts as it’s home to the Spa Valley Railway and the Miniature Steam Railway. Historians may like Redoubt Fort and The Observatory Science Museum (in nearby Herstmonceux). For all-weather attractions for children why not investigate Fort Fun or the indoor Motcombe Swimming Pool? Further afield, and within a one-hour drive to the west is Brighton, with its own pier, wonderful array of shops and eateries. To the west is Bexhill-on-Sea with its impressive art gallery, the De La Warr Pavillion, and long seafront. Just beyond is the old fishing town of Hastings with its new award-winning designer pier, ancient castle and fishing shanty town.
