Attractive cottage sleeping four guests, located in the Meads Village area of Eastbourne, just a few minutes’ walk from quiet Holywell Beach, pubs, and shops.

This cottage is located in the Meads Village area of Eastbourne, which lies to the western side of the town, where the urban area gives way to the beautiful scenery of the South Downs National Park. The iconic clifftop at Beachy Head with its breath-taking views is within an hours’ walk across the downs, and keen walkers may like to continue onto the Birling Gap and Seven Sisters, which lie a rewarding four-mile walk from the property. For those who enjoy spending time at the beach, quiet Holywell Beach is just a five-minute walk from the cottage, while Eastbourne’s main beach with its host of facilities and pier is just one mile away along the seafront parade.

This property has been charmingly styled to create a wonderful base from which to enjoy a relaxing break. The first room that guests come to is the light and stylish lounge with its tasteful seaside touches, feature fireplace, two sofas, TV, and DVD. Moving through to the kitchen/diner, guests will find a bright, contemporary room with a dining table at one end, and equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and washing machine. A door from the kitchen leads through to the conservatory, where a second table gives guests a pleasant, sunny place to enjoy a morning cup of tea. There is a convenient cloakroom with WC located just off the conservatory. Upstairs there are two bedrooms: a double with an en-suite bathroom, and a twin room, next to which is a shower room.

Outside, there is a small shingled garden to the front of the property, and, to the rear, a decked patio garden with a table and chairs, making it a great space for relaxing over drinks. There is a permit provided for the roadside parking outside the property.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

We loved Downs Gate Cottage it was ideal for us. Close to the front and close to the shops in Meads. Although the parking permit scheme sounded a bit of a bind in fact it works in your favour when there is no where to park along the seafront. The conservatory and outside furniture meant that you use one in the daytime and one in the evening, Have aRead morelready asked about rebooking for next year. Missing it already ! Hide

Eastbourne is a bustling seaside resort on the south coast of England. It has been a popular British holiday destination since Victorian times. The town’s attractive pier and promenade is still a major draw for visitors in search of a traditional seaside experience – you can enjoy a long, level stroll along the sea front whilst enjoying an ice cream or some fish and chips. The pebble beach is a good place to park a deckchair and take in the sun, or paddle in the sea. Great for family breaks and as a romantic getaway, the town has much to offer all visitors. The South Downs Way starts in town and extends 100 miles eastwards to Winchester – one of the first stops on the National Trail are the imposing chalk cliffs of the iconic Beachy Head, a few miles to the east of town. Eastbourne is a big hit with train enthusiasts as it’s home to the Spa Valley Railway and the Miniature Steam Railway. Historians may like Redoubt Fort and The Observatory Science Museum (in nearby Herstmonceux). For all-weather attractions for children why not investigate Fort Fun or the indoor Motcombe Swimming Pool? Further afield, and within a one-hour drive to the west is Brighton, with its own pier, wonderful array of shops and eateries. To the west is Bexhill-on-Sea with its impressive art gallery, the De La Warr Pavillion, and long seafront. Just beyond is the old fishing town of Hastings with its new award-winning designer pier, ancient castle and fishing shanty town.
