With so many things to do and places to see, plan your time wisely when holidaying in Keswick. The lakeside market town is known as the Adventure Capital of England and you can try your hand at ghyll scrambling, canoeing or paragliding before rewarding your efforts with a tasty meal. If you fancy letting someone else do the hard work, book on a cruise and hop on and off at the villages which surround Derwentwater. If the rain interrupts your plans, enjoy a day at the movies or spend your evening at the Theatre by the Lake (1 mile). The heart of the picturesque Borrowdale Valley is 7 miles away and is a great starting point for some fantastic walks and hikes.

Make your way inside this first-floor apartment to settle in and unpack via the shared entrance. The open-plan living space welcomes you inside with open arms and has all you need to enjoy a relaxing stay. Eastbourne is a bustling seaside resort on the south coast of England. It has been a popular British holiday destination since Victorian times. The town’s attractive pier and promenade is still a major draw for visitors in search of a traditional seaside experience – you can enjoy a long, level stroll along the sea front whilst enjoying an ice cream or some fish and chips. The pebble beach is a good place to park a deckchair and take in the sun, or paddle in the sea. Great for family breaks and as a romantic getaway, the town has much to offer all visitors. The South Downs Way starts in town and extends 100 miles eastwards to Winchester – one of the first stops on the National Trail are the imposing chalk cliffs of the iconic Beachy Head, a few miles to the east of town. Eastbourne is a big hit with train enthusiasts as it’s home to the Spa Valley Railway and the Miniature Steam Railway. Historians may like Redoubt Fort and The Observatory Science Museum (in nearby Herstmonceux). For all-weather attractions for children why not investigate Fort Fun or the indoor Motcombe Swimming Pool? Further afield, and within a one-hour drive to the west is Brighton, with its own pier, wonderful array of shops and eateries. To the west is Bexhill-on-Sea with its impressive art gallery, the De La Warr Pavillion, and long seafront. Just beyond is the old fishing town of Hastings with its new award-winning designer pier, ancient castle and fishing shanty town.
