This dog-friendly three-bedroom property with an enclosed garden is just under half a mile from the white cliffs and shingle beach of Saltdean and the Saltdean Lido, the only Grade II* listed lido in the UK. With Brighton just 5 miles away and a range of shops, pubs and restaurants within half a mile, this is a convenient base for a family group wanting to enjoy a seaside break in this lovely corner of England.

The snug with patio doors is a lovely place to have some quiet time, perhaps in the morning with a coffee made using the Nespresso machine. The first floor is accessed via cottage-style stairs from the hallway where the three bedrooms, separate WC and bathroom can be found. This property was TOP of the range. We have rented a few properties over the last 5 years for family to meet up at certain times of the year, as we all live in different countries. The owner went the extra mile to make the property a pleasure to be in, you felt welcome and comfortable. A big thank you from all of us.

We really enjoyed our stay at Starlings, it was real home from home with lots of lovely welcoming touches including the welcome hamper and fruit. It was nice to go on walks straight from Starlings and not have to rely on the car.

The house is very well situated: a short walk from the beach and shops, also you can step right into the countryside to have nice hiking tours (tours and maps are provided). The welcome is very friendly, the house is very well equipped with everything you need. Jane and Alan helped with every question coming up and gave good ideas for excursions.

Eastbourne is a bustling seaside resort on the south coast of England. It has been a popular British holiday destination since Victorian times. The town’s attractive pier and promenade is still a major draw for visitors in search of a traditional seaside experience – you can enjoy a long, level stroll along the sea front whilst enjoying an ice cream or some fish and chips. The pebble beach is a good place to park a deckchair and take in the sun, or paddle in the sea. Great for family breaks and as a romantic getaway, the town has much to offer all visitors. The South Downs Way starts in town and extends 100 miles eastwards to Winchester – one of the first stops on the National Trail are the imposing chalk cliffs of the iconic Beachy Head, a few miles to the east of town. Eastbourne is a big hit with train enthusiasts as it’s home to the Spa Valley Railway and the Miniature Steam Railway. Historians may like Redoubt Fort and The Observatory Science Museum (in nearby Herstmonceux). For all-weather attractions for children why not investigate Fort Fun or the indoor Motcombe Swimming Pool? Further afield, and within a one-hour drive to the west is Brighton, with its own pier, wonderful array of shops and eateries. To the west is Bexhill-on-Sea with its impressive art gallery, the De La Warr Pavillion, and long seafront. Just beyond is the old fishing town of Hastings with its new award-winning designer pier, ancient castle and fishing shanty town.
