Located just a short walk from the seafront in the Meads Village area of Eastbourne, this pretty fisherman's cottage is an ideal escape for couples and families, with a choice of pubs, restaurants, and shops right on the doorstep.

This property is an authentic and pretty Victorian fisherman’s cottage in Meads Village; a super choice for a traditional seaside stay with family or a couple of friends (and the dog). Take a short stroll down to the seafront, also known as the Holywell Retreat, and relax into a mosaic of laid-back cafes, bars and beach huts and onto the dog-friendly shingle beach. Around a 10-minute walk takes you into the main part of Eastbourne where you can visit the classic Victorian Pier or the vibrant shopping centre for some retail therapy.

This classic English cottage enjoys attractive seaside shades, natural wood and a private courtyard garden with outdoor seating. The original features combine well with the chic colours to give the rooms a mix of character and contemporary, while the kitchen and two upstairs bathrooms offer every modern comfort needed to relax. After a day of beachcombing, wind your way up the cottage-style staircase for a soak in the bath, then retire for the night to one of the lovely three bedrooms. Wake refreshed and raring to go - perhaps morning coffee in the pretty walled courtyard would be a nice treat before the adventure begins again.

On the main beach at Eastbourne you will find the Lifeboat Museum and historic Wish Tower and, just 5 miles further along the coastline is Pevensey Bay with its stunning beach. If you want an interesting and historical day out, Pevensey Castle has history oozing from its ancient walls, dungeons to explore and beautiful grounds to meander through. There is a restaurant and even the occasional medieval joust too. Further afield, you can spend a day in Brighton (20 miles) or Hastings (15 miles) for boutique shopping and delicious lunches.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely cottage, although the photos are slightly misleading as you have no use of the gardens that are shown. There is also no parking in the area for certain parts of the day. The cottage is wonderfully appointed except for the living room furniture which makes it difficult to relax in the evenings. But this is a great area in this wonderful part Read moreof the country. Nice cottage with basic facilities. Plenty of hot water and comfortable beds. There is no parking permit with this property (as advertised) and surrounding roads require a permit. Therefore you will need to find parking away from the cottage. Beach is a 15 min walk away. Its a stoney beach accessed by a number of slopes but is lovely and quiet.

We really enjoyed our Christmas stay in The Cottage. The location is great, attractive and pleasant, close to a good selection of shops and a friendly pub, The Ship. Lovely sense of community. The cottage is warm and the kitchen well equipped, no difficulty preparing our Christmas meal.

The location is great. We love this area of Eastbourne and stay here a lot when visiting family in the area. This was our first time at this particular cottage. The cottage is quaint and was adequate for our needs. We liked the fact that there were two bathrooms which is unusual in a cottage of this size. The enclosed garden is great for dogs. The Read morecottage could be improved with more comfortable seating in the lounge and the addition of a dishwasher! Hide

Eastbourne is a bustling seaside resort on the south coast of England. It has been a popular British holiday destination since Victorian times. The town’s attractive pier and promenade is still a major draw for visitors in search of a traditional seaside experience – you can enjoy a long, level stroll along the sea front whilst enjoying an ice cream or some fish and chips. The pebble beach is a good place to park a deckchair and take in the sun, or paddle in the sea. Great for family breaks and as a romantic getaway, the town has much to offer all visitors. The South Downs Way starts in town and extends 100 miles eastwards to Winchester – one of the first stops on the National Trail are the imposing chalk cliffs of the iconic Beachy Head, a few miles to the east of town. Eastbourne is a big hit with train enthusiasts as it’s home to the Spa Valley Railway and the Miniature Steam Railway. Historians may like Redoubt Fort and The Observatory Science Museum (in nearby Herstmonceux). For all-weather attractions for children why not investigate Fort Fun or the indoor Motcombe Swimming Pool? Further afield, and within a one-hour drive to the west is Brighton, with its own pier, wonderful array of shops and eateries. To the west is Bexhill-on-Sea with its impressive art gallery, the De La Warr Pavillion, and long seafront. Just beyond is the old fishing town of Hastings with its new award-winning designer pier, ancient castle and fishing shanty town.
