Plan your getaway to this fabulous rural location at the foot of the South Downs. The approach to the property, from Alciston village, is just delightful and will definitely evoke a sense of retreat. Here you can enjoy beautiful walks and scenery; it’s a lovely romantic spot for a couple or a solo traveller taking some time out. A 3-mile walk to the top of Thirle Beacon will reward you with stunning views over the East Sussex Weald, followed perhaps by a traditional pub meal at one of the three village inns.

The famous Long Man of Wilmington, which is carved out in the rocks, host’s fabulous views from the top and Drusilla’s Country Park is within easy walking distance. Pevensey Bay and Castle, Eastbourne and Newhaven are within a 10-mile radius and the colourful town of Brighton is a little less than 20 miles away.

Eastbourne is a bustling seaside resort on the south coast of England. It has been a popular British holiday destination since Victorian times. The town’s attractive pier and promenade is still a major draw for visitors in search of a traditional seaside experience – you can enjoy a long, level stroll along the sea front whilst enjoying an ice cream or some fish and chips. The pebble beach is a good place to park a deckchair and take in the sun, or paddle in the sea. Great for family breaks and as a romantic getaway, the town has much to offer all visitors. The South Downs Way starts in town and extends 100 miles eastwards to Winchester – one of the first stops on the National Trail are the imposing chalk cliffs of the iconic Beachy Head, a few miles to the east of town. Eastbourne is a big hit with train enthusiasts as it’s home to the Spa Valley Railway and the Miniature Steam Railway. Historians may like Redoubt Fort and The Observatory Science Museum (in nearby Herstmonceux). For all-weather attractions for children why not investigate Fort Fun or the indoor Motcombe Swimming Pool? Further afield, and within a one-hour drive to the west is Brighton, with its own pier, wonderful array of shops and eateries. To the west is Bexhill-on-Sea with its impressive art gallery, the De La Warr Pavillion, and long seafront. Just beyond is the old fishing town of Hastings with its new award-winning designer pier, ancient castle and fishing shanty town.
