A lovingly converted former bakery, located just moments from the seafront in the seaside town of Eastbourne, benefiting from a raised patio with sea views.

This pretty cottage is situated at the heart of the traditional seaside resort of Eastbourne, just across the road from the town’s wide shingle beach. The town’s restored Victorian pier is just a five-minute walk away with its tea rooms, and fish and chip restaurant. Other attractions in the town include an interesting lifeboat museum, a seafront fort built during the Napoleonic Wars, and a fantastic outdoor sports centre, which offers tuition in stand-up paddle boarding, windsurfing, and even raft making. There is also a good range of both high-street and independent shops in the town, as well as a wide choice of pubs, restaurants, and cafes. Other places of interest within easy reach of the property include the towns of Bexhill and Lewes, Herstmonceux Castle, Beachy Head, and Drusillas Zoo Park.

This charming period property is a fantastic example of an 18th century former bakery which has been thoughtfully updated to create a comfortable holiday cottage, whilst still retaining much of the original charm. Enter the cottage through the traditional entrance hall, where there is plenty of room to put coats and walking boots, and a quiet spot to relax and read, then take a couple of steps down to the cosy lounge/drawing room which has a beamed ceiling, comfy sofa and armchairs. Enjoy watching your favourite TV programmes on the Smart TV with DVD player, after a busy day sightseeing.  The second reception room, which has retained the original bread ovens and a feature fireplace, is a spacious dining room which offers a sociable space for entertaining at the large dining table with seating for eight. Moving through to the kitchen, guests will find everything they need to prepare and enjoy their favourite dishes including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The ground floor is completed with a twin bedroom and a spacious wet room with shower, grab rails, a folding seat and WC. Stairs lead to the first-floor accommodation where there are three pretty bedrooms. The first of these is the master bedroom, a light-filled room which offers a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath with hand held shower attachment and WC. The two remaining bedrooms are both twin rooms. Also, on this floor, there is a bathroom with walk-in shower, bath and WC.

There is private access to a raised courtyard with views to the sea. There is a private parking space to the rear of the property

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Good location beside seafront and bus routes, but grotty area. Winos lurking around cottage. Mattresses need replacing. Front door flimsy, and poor locks, felt unsafe. We had a lovely family get together at Ye Olde Bakery. Excellent location and well equipped kitchen. The property has lots of lovely features. The beds upstairs are in need of new mattresses as they are uncomfortable. There are 3 well presented bathrooms and lots of hot water. We arrived to find teabags milk and biscuits which were appreciated.

The cottage was actually lovely and generally very comfy. Equipment very good and double bed in main bedroom was surprisingly very comfortable. Felt a little like being in a goldfish bowl in the lounge at night with people constantly looking in as they walked by on the path. This was easily remedied by closing the very nice curtains.

A lovely cottage close to the seafront. There was a friendly feel and we all felt at home. The downstairs was spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for the 7 adults and one dog. The downstairs bedroom and wet room made it an ideal place for a member of our group who could not manage stairs. We all felt we would like to return again.

Really lovely cottage in great location for easy access to the beach. Well equipped and clean. We were blessed with glorious weather - so it was very hot in the house, particularly upstairs, but this would probably be a bonus at most times.

It seemed the property was fairly new to renting. All very clean nice bathrooms Only real criticism maybe some window blinds to the front downstairs room as it felt bit like living in a fish bowl.

A superbly renovated house with no expense spared in the kitchen, if it hadn't been for the lack of seats in the lounge I would score it 15/10!

Eastbourne is a bustling seaside resort on the south coast of England. It has been a popular British holiday destination since Victorian times. The town’s attractive pier and promenade is still a major draw for visitors in search of a traditional seaside experience – you can enjoy a long, level stroll along the sea front whilst enjoying an ice cream or some fish and chips. The pebble beach is a good place to park a deckchair and take in the sun, or paddle in the sea. Great for family breaks and as a romantic getaway, the town has much to offer all visitors. The South Downs Way starts in town and extends 100 miles eastwards to Winchester – one of the first stops on the National Trail are the imposing chalk cliffs of the iconic Beachy Head, a few miles to the east of town. Eastbourne is a big hit with train enthusiasts as it’s home to the Spa Valley Railway and the Miniature Steam Railway. Historians may like Redoubt Fort and The Observatory Science Museum (in nearby Herstmonceux). For all-weather attractions for children why not investigate Fort Fun or the indoor Motcombe Swimming Pool? Further afield, and within a one-hour drive to the west is Brighton, with its own pier, wonderful array of shops and eateries. To the west is Bexhill-on-Sea with its impressive art gallery, the De La Warr Pavillion, and long seafront. Just beyond is the old fishing town of Hastings with its new award-winning designer pier, ancient castle and fishing shanty town.
